Our Academic and Technical Education Mentors are here to inspire and advise the next generation of learners. Whether we’re chatting in classrooms or offering hands-on sessions, you’ll find us visiting schools across East Lancashire and further afield, helping students explore the exciting paths that East Lancashire Learning Group (ELLG) can open for them.
From A Levels and T Levels to Technical Courses and Apprenticeships, we’re here to show students all the amazing opportunities that await. With enthusiasm, care, and personalised advice, we help young people feel confident and energised about their next steps after school.
We work closely with schools, teachers, and students to help every young person find their unique path and reach their potential. Here’s how we make it all come alive:
Inspiring students to imagine their futures with information about Accrington & Rossendale College’s diverse courses.
Inviting pupils onto our campus to discover different subjects and see what college life is all about.
Building future confidence with practical interview preparation and expert feedback.
A member of our team will visit your school to offer advice and guidance at Parent evenings and during Lunchtime.
Interactive workshops that develop skills like teamwork and responsibility.
We also work hand-in-hand with our Additional Learning Support and Foundation Learning teams to provide specialised, tailored advice for students with unique needs or circumstances. Our goal? To make sure every student has the tools to transition to college successfully and thrive.
At Accrington & Rossendale College, we believe in empowering young people to dream big. Whether it’s practical advice, wellbeing support, or guidance on picking the perfect course, everything we do is designed to build confidence and excitement for the future.

From experienced educators to passionate mentors, our team brings enthusiasm and expertise to every interaction. Here’s a little about who we are and what drives us.
Hi, I’m Melanie, and I live in Oswaldtwistle! I absolutely love working with students in Pendle, Hyndburn, Rossendale, and beyond, helping them discover exciting opportunities and plan for bright futures. There’s no better feeling than seeing that spark when a young person explores careers they may not have thought about before!
My Background
I’ve spent years working in education and the hospitality sector. Before joining ELLG, I worked as a college lecturer, I taught Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management and I hold a Masters Degree. I even lived abroad for seven years as a resort manager. Fun fact? I speak Spanish and have met both King Charles and Queen Elizabeth II!
I’m here to help pupils dream big and take those important steps towards their goals.
Hi, I’m Hayley! Based in Whalley, I spend my time visiting schools across Pendle, Ribble Valley, and further afield, helping young people make informed decisions about their futures. For me, it’s all about building pupils’ confidence and showing them what’s possible.
My Background
I hold a degree in Primary Education and Drama and have been lucky enough to work with learners of all ages—from nursery right up to college. Before joining ELLG, I gained experience as a primary school teacher, carer support worker, and even as a research assistant!
Fun fact? I’m passionate about education and truly believe in the power of helping students find their direction.
Hi, I’m Paul! I’m based in Burnley and work with schools in Burnley, Pendle, and the wider area. What motivates me the most is helping students feel excited and confident about all the opportunities open to them after school. Seeing their faces light up when they realise their potential is why I love what I do.
My Background
Before joining ELLG, I served in the British Army for 24 years, reaching the rank of Warrant Officer, and later worked as an energy consultant and recruitment specialist. Along the way, I’ve flown a helicopter, been invited to Buckingham Palace twice, and met the late Queen Elizabeth II!
I’m passionate about sharing my experiences to inspire young people to follow their own paths.
Hi, I’m Becky, and I’m based in Burnley. You’ll often see me in schools across Pendle and Rossendale, helping pupils figure out what gets them excited about the future. Whether it’s finding the right college course, planning a career, or thinking about university, I love making these decisions a little easier (and more fun!).
My Background
I’ve worked as a primary teacher in Blackburn, Burnley, and Rochdale—and have a background in hospitality and youth leadership. I have a passion for the creative arts, and I use drama, dance, and art to build confidence and inspire pupils to think big.
Fun fact? Nothing excites me more than encouraging creativity and helping students realise their full potential!
Hi, I’m Adam and I live in Blackburn. You’ll often find me in schools across Lancashire, but there’s a good chance you’ll catch me in Pendle, Blackburn or Accrington more regularly. The part of my job I love most is helping students figure out their options after their GCSEs. I remember how tough that decision felt when I was their age, so it’s really rewarding to be able to support others through that same process and show them what’s out there. My Background
At Accrington & Rossendale College, we’re dedicated to supporting young people and opening doorways to their dreams. If you’re ready to explore what’s next, we’d love to work with you!
