What is Connect?

Connect is our new way to move from Year 11 to college. Instead of a formal interview, you’ll get real experiences that help you choose well, feel prepared and arrive at college with confidence.

Our connect events are designed for applicants of Accrington & Rossendale College.

Research your options; attend an Open Event; talk to our Schools Team and complete your application online.

Choose a date/time that suits you and bring a parent/carer if you can.

Meet tutors and students, see facilities, try activities, and ask questions.

A short, relaxed conversation (in person or online) about your goals and the course that fits you best.

If you meet the entry requirements, your place is guaranteed. We’ll keep you updated all the way to enrolment.

We want every learner to feel welcome and confident. Tell us about any access needs (SEND, carers, medical or other adjustments) when you book, or email admissions@eastlancslearning.ac.uk. We’ll work with you to make your visit a success.

Connect FAQs

Do I need to prepare anything or bring anything to my Connect event?

No formal is prep needed. But it does help to think about your interests, strengths and goals. If you have a CV or portfolio, feel free to bring it along. You could bring your phone or a small note book and pen to make notes.

We’d prefer if you brought along a parent/carer (or another responsible adult aged 18+) as there’s lots they can learn about College too.

No. Connect replaces formal interviews with informal chats and activities. During the event, you’ll book a short 1:1 Curriculum Connect Chat for a later date.

Whatever is comfortable and appropriate for a school/college setting – there’s no dress code.

Yes. We’ll prioritise your first choice on the day and help you arrange a follow-up taster for your second choice if needed..

Yes. Email admissions@eastlancslearning.ac.uk and we’ll offer the next available date. You can also rebook via your application portal on the website.

You’ll be welcomed, then visit your course area(s) to connect with staff, students (and sometimes employers). Try short activities, explore facilities, and get a feel for college life. Your parent/carer can attend support briefings (travel, finance, wellbeing).

Yes. You can chat with tutors and you’ll also schedule your 1:1 Curriculum Connect Chat before you leave.

It’s an in-person event and, yes, lots of Year 11 applicants attend.

Yes, light refreshments are available to buy.

No. Stay as long as you need to see your subject(s), ask questions and book your 1:1.

You’ll have your 1:1 Curriculum Connect Chat (in person or online – your choice) at the date/time you booked. We’ll send reminders beforehand and follow up with your next steps.

Usually by email and/or SMS using the details on your application. Please keep them up to date in your application portal.

Yes – every applicant is guaranteed a place, subject to entry requirements. If your grades change, we’ll discuss alternative routes.
